Which Type of Winter Tires Will You Choose?

At Jaguar Livermore, our team wants to help you prepare for winter driving conditions. When snow and ice cover the roads, it can be extremely dangerous, but winter tires are a great way to enhance safety. There are three types of winter tires that include studdable winter/snow tires, studless ice/snow tires, and performance winter/snow tires.

Studdable winter/snow tires use an optional metal stud to provide you with optimal traction on icy roads. You can also use these tires without the studs for driving on the snow. However, the stud should be used when you are driving on icy surfaces. It is important to keep in mind that these tires can damage roads, so check to ensure that they are legal in your area.

Studless tires are a friendlier option than studded tires. These tires can deliver similar traction as studdable tires, and they tend to make driving on the snow feel like driving in the rain. Performance tires were originally made for ice and snow on European highways. These tires are best for areas that don't have a significant amount of snow.
